Artists Lesley Fallais and Jane Revitt have been
commissioned by Loca on behalf of Kirklees Council to
develop a series of artworks for a new Library, Information and
Children’s Centre in Ravensthorpe. The idea behind Library and
Information Centres is to
bring
council services into the heart of the local community, making them
more accessible to everyone.
Lesley has been out and about on the streets of Ravensthorpe over the
last few months, meeting with local people in all sorts of places -
shops, schools, community centres, the health centre and the mobile
library bus to name a few. People have been recording their favourite
colours, making large colour wheels and photographing colours found
around Ravensthorpe. Children have been given special colour
diaries for collecting colours and youth groups will be doing colour
themed health eating sessions . Schools and groups across
Ravensthorpe will be running their own colour activities throughout
spring and into summer. There may even be a
colourful carnival
to look forward to!
The project is being
managed by Loca the Council’s regeneration agency in
partnership with the LICs team.
